With each part of a home I like to work back and forth between the big picture and the small details. It’s literally a process of testing ideas and engaging and pulling at a scheme to arrive at something that’s instinctive and imperatively feels right. This is very true of a room like a playroom that can be shared by several siblings and/or little extended family members and friends for play overs.
I love it when a design starts dancing in my head. The elements of make believe and stimulation in a playroom needs to be mixed sometimes with the creative tasks of craft, music, learning and enjoyment as well as the space simply being relaxing and a space to have time out.
This room needs to have both warmth and cohesion as it often holds nooks and crannies that give a mix up to the different play of children. It needs to be jam packed with character and yet leave gaps and space so there is room for play. It is satisfying to plan, make and create for this space so it can ultimately be successful in holding loads of enjoyment and good memories.
