The delight of conceiving, designing and creating with the personality of the child in mind, is one of my favourite roles as an interior designer. I love that within a family there are different personalities to express and this can be achieved in their bedrooms, whilst always keeping the whole home and its flow throughout out in mind. Adding touches of whimsical, practicality, surprise and delight, whist maintaining exceptional quality, is what we deliver.
Giving the children a place to dream and initially letting them be little and enjoy a space of their own. Their rooms should have the aim to nourish them, encourage sleep and to provide a space for them to simply to “hang out” in. In my experience if they are personally involved with the design choices there is often a greater sense of pride, a desire to keep some order and to look after their space.
Their rooms need to have the warmth of everyday touch points and to include good and practical ways of storing their treasures. It is important that the room and the design is able to evolve overtime and grow with them.
