With each part of a home I like to work back and forth between the big picture and the small details. It’s a literally a process of testing ideas and engaging and pulling at a scheme to arrive at something that’s instinctive and imperially feels right. This is very true of a room like a playroom that can be shared by several siblings and or little extended family members plus friends for play overs.
I love it when a design starts dancing in my head. The elements of make believe and stimulation in this room needs to be mixed sometimes with the creative tasks of craft, music learning and or the enjoyment of it as well as it being simply relaxing and having time out in the space.
This room needs to have both warmth and cohesion as it often holds nooks and crannies that give a mix up to the different play of children. For it to be jam packed with character and yet to leave gaps and space at the same time is a tension to fulfil a room that just makes sense. It is satisfying to plan, make and create for this space and to have it to ultimately be successful in holding loads of enjoyment and good memories.
