Here is the opportunity to have a poetic expression of the wonder of birth and the nurture of their young lives this is an important thing to be shared by those nearest and dearest. Our aim is to have a dreamy room for the little one who is the latest member of your family. There is quite a bit of practical space creation to do however over all it is the ambience that gives a sense of the joy and contentment. An important aspect is have the room feel a like a soothing nest that also has a magical twist or story to it. This can often include a romantic edge to the planning process, as parents want to either recreate their own memories of their childhood or how they have always wished it to be. I adore this part of my role and being able to include character pieces that may have been saved over the years or collected or that I can hunt and gather for my clients.
In this room a vital element is the use of textures that give that “touchy feely” sense of comfort and interest. Also to use height as often the nursery is a smaller room in the home and I have proven time and again that by using good sized furniture whilst taking up the space above with interest and movement that a room can in fact feel much larger. This can be achieved in many ways inclusive of mobiles and lighting.
There are other important aspects in creating the ideal nursery that include the window treatments. We design these to be flexible and give options of sleep at different times of the day. Then also a very comfy chair that allows for both mum and dad to have cuddle and smoothing times with their little one.
It is true that “sometimes it’s the smallest things that take up the most room in your heart”.
